If you’ve been wanting to get your hands on a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID for your Mac, but didn’t want to buy an entire computer along with it, this is your chance. Apple has made both the regular version and the model featuring a numerical keypad available for purchase individually, for $149 and $179, respectively. There are a few things to keep in mind when buying a Magic Keyboard, however. First there are no additional color options available, so you’ll only be able to get it in standard Apple metallic/silver. Second, the Touch ID feature will only work with M1 Macs, so if yours is an older computer you might want to look at the standard and numpad models without Touch ID. Third, all of these models come with a Lightning to USB-C connection cable, meaning if you use a standard USB connection you’ll need to buy a separate cable. If you can’t or don’t intend to use Touch ID, you’ll probably want to grab a Magic Keyboard model without that function. This would save you money, but the models without Touch ID are also compatible with more Mac hardware, as well as with most iPhones and iPads. Apple’s Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad are also available for purchase separately now, for $79 and $129, respectively. However, it’s worth noting that both are subject to the same color and USB-C limitations as the Magic Keyboard.
