How to Add Multiple Accounts to Your Meta (Oculus) Quest 2

With the multi-user account feature, Meta allows you to add up to three additional accounts above and beyond the original admin account. You can add and remove these accounts freely, so you don’t need to worry about getting locked in or going over a limit. Here’s how to add a second, third, or even fourth account to your Quest 2:

How Do Multiple Accounts Work on Quest 2?

Before the introduction of the multi-user feature, each Quest 2 could only have a single account. That means if you wanted to let other people use your Quest 2, or a family or group of friends shared a single headset, every user of the device had to use the original user’s account. There was no per-user customization. Every app and game purchase had to be made by the admin. Individual users couldn’t save game progress or high scores, and all social features linked to the original user’s Facebook account. The only way to change the admin account was by performing a factory reset on the Oculus Quest. A Quest 2 can have an admin account and then three additional accounts with the multi-user feature. Each account can access games and apps owned by the admin account through the Oculus game sharing feature. The accounts can also purchase games and apps, customize the VR experience to their specifications, have game progress and high scores, and use social media integration if they choose to enable that feature. While the admin account shares its games and apps with the secondary accounts, it doesn’t work the other way around. If a secondary account purchases a game or app, only they can access that game or app. The original admin account that activated the Quest 2 is locked in place unless you perform a factory reset, but the additional accounts can be added and removed at any time. That means you could easily use this feature to give a friend a personalized VR tour and then remove their account afterward.
