The new Xbox Stereo Headset is an entry-level headset that aims to deliver an immersive experience at a low price point. It has a flexible, lightweight design that comes with an adjustable headband and plump ear cushions that sit comfortably on a gamer’s head, all of which are ideal features for long gaming sessions. The headset also has volume and mute controls located on the ear and can connect to a Xbox Wireless Controller via the 3.5mm audio jack. It’s compatible with the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles, as well as the Xbox One from the previous generation and Windows 10 PCs. It also works with other devices thanks to the 3.5mm audio jack. The Stereo Headset supports “high-fidelity spatial sound technologies,” which include Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos, and DTA Headphone: X. Microsoft said it strived to have the audio quality as high as possible by ensuring “clean mid- [and] high-frequency performance with strong bass.” However, if users want to utilize these spatial technologies, they may need additional purchases and to download extra apps. Xbox did not detail the performance of the microphone or what, if any, special technology it has. The blog post only briefly mentions having “clear microphone performance.” The Xbox Stereo Headset is available for pre-order for $59.99 and will be available for purchase on September 21.
