According to a company press release, OS 10.5 introduces a slew of new features, configurations, and even advice on using Roku Voice. High-quality sound and audio appear to be the focus for OS 10.5. While it appears that all Roku streaming devices will get the update, the Roku Streambar, Streambar Pro, and Smart Soundbar will be compatible with 3.1 and 5.1 surround sound, and the company’s Wireless Speakers can be paired with these devices to act as front speakers. The Audio/Video (A/V) sync feature has been enhanced, as it now actively tries to fix synchronization issues. In addition, it allows users to make specific changes to the video with their smartphone camera and adjust audio delay with wireless headphones. This troubleshooting is available in the settings menu on the Roku mobile app. Sound settings can be configured via the Roku mobile app without having to interrupt the stream. Users can change speech clarity, volume level, and activate a night mode. Roku Voice also has two new functionalities. It’s now supported by almost every channel on the Search function, and Roku Voice Help teaches users how to use the feature and learn which commands work. Roku has made content easier to access thanks to a brand new Home tab. The new tab features a Zones category, which allows users to browse movies and TV shows across various genres. And if they see something they like, users can save content to a Save List to watch later.
