According to the update notes, Pixelmator’s 2.2 Carmel update includes support for Apple’s newly released operating system. But the update doesn’t stop there as it’s also intended to make use of the new M1 Pro and M1 Max silicon chips for improved performance. But optimization for newer hardware isn’t all the 2.2 update addresses. The new Carmel update comes with a long list of other additions, including 28 different actions you can use with the Shortcuts app. Those actions will let you increase resolution, apply preset color adjustments, crop to a specific aspect ratio, and more. Pixelmator Pro also is including some sample shortcuts to help give you an idea of how to make use of them on your system. Beyond that, version 2.2 also adds a Split Comparison view to make it easier to see how your edits have changed the original image. You’ll also be able to use Portrait Masks to add layers and effects to your FaceTime photos. Compatibility with .PHOTO files imported from the iPad Pixelmator Photo app has been included, as well. The 2.2 Carmel update is available now for all Pixelmator Pro owners for free.
