9to5Google pointed out that some Reddit users have been seeing a new Cast icon appear in the menu bar of their YouTube Music web client. While it was previously possible to stream YouTube Music to Chromecast, it required sharing the whole screen. According to Reddit user Ploppy_, official Cast support also means you can use your phone to control audio, with “…much better performance and audio quality.” YouTube Music users who have access to the feature say selecting the Cast icon will create a drop-down menu, which can be used to select a device to connect to. Reddit user Quicksilver33s explains you can stream a playing cast by selecting the device currently being used, and reiterates that you can also control the cast from your phone. The new feature hasn’t appeared for everyone yet, however. While some users see the new Cast icon, others don’t, which indicates this is likely a test or a slow rollout. If it’s a rollout, then the feature may show up for everyone over the next couple of weeks. If you want to see if you have access to the casting feature, you can open the YouTube Music web client and look for the icon in the top-right corner of the screen. Google has not acknowledged the new feature or any feature testing, so for now, all we can do is wait and see if this becomes more widely available and available permanently.
